Up, Up, and Away

Ayden watching the not-so-mad scientist Ayden helping Aj sit by him and Ashten
Ayden and Ashten

Today, we went to watch a science show at the 320th library. We asked Grammy to come with, AJ has been quite the beast lately, and I knew I would need to take him out. It was fun to have her come with and get to hang out for a little bit. Anyway, the science guy, was funny; the kids laughed their heads off. And, they learned so much. I definitely need to get them out to these type of things more often. While the other kids are raising their hands to volunteer, Ayden and Ashten just sit there. I noticed it in Disneyland a few times also, and I'm not sure if they are shy or just aren't interested.

Pajamarama Story Time

Ashten and Ayden during Story TimeThe puppet show

Tonight we went to Pajamarama Story Time at the Federal Way Library. I forgot about it until about 630pm and it starts a t 7pm, so I had Ayden and Ashten hurry and get ready (Anderson was sleeping). They get to wear their jammies and bring either a blanket or a stuffed animal. Ashten was very wiggly but they both had a good time. Afterwards, they played the computers that the library has set up for kids. They really like doing that although Ashten has a hard time with the mouse. I'm not sure if this is because he doesn't have a ton of practice or if it's because he's a lefty. Just before we left the kids put on a puppet show for me. They don't know to make the puppets talk...when I asked Ayden about this he told me: "the puppets mouth doesn't open so I can't make it talk". Anyway, it was good to get out of the house and the boys are always excited to go somewhere at night, they always think it's an adventure.

Mmmm...Mushrooms

Crazy kids...sad thing is this goofy picture turned out better than the "cute" picture"Daddy will be so proud of me"
AshtenAnderson doesn't enjoy looking at me when I have a camera in my hands
Today, I had to get out of the house. I was being such a bum and needed some fresh air, but it has been so rainy and miserable outside, lately. I thought it would be nice to walk over to the library to get some books and movies, so that we could continue to be entertained bums when we got home. On the way back in the church yard, the big boys found some giant mushrooms. Ayden was picking them and making a bouquet...it was very funny, but of course before I left the house I thought, "why would I need a camera between here and the library?" Ashten brought his mushrooms in the house and washed them then broke them into little pieces ... I think he thought that I was going to cook them for dinner.

Jaydeen's Petting Zoo

You look like a donkey and you smell like one too!

On Saturday, Armand did not go to work Woohoo! We hung around the house until lunch time and then went over to have some Pho Hoa. (I love that my kids eat anything and everything, it took a year or two of torture for anyone who ate with us but now that we have pushed through the hard times it's so nice to know that wherever we go, they won't starve.) Anyways, afterwards we ran super fun errands to Costco and Best Buy. The kids actually love going into Best Buy so that was pretty fun for them. They love playing with all the cell phones and cameras etc. Anyways, after that we went home and walked over to the library. They were having a petting zoo. We didn't really know what to expect but they had a little goat, a mini horse, a donkey, doggies, a chicken, a peacock, and a bunny. It was set up in the parking lot outside, it wasn't huge but it was more than I expected, I was thinking cats, dogs, bunny. Ashten's favorite animal to see was the peacock, which we couldn't pet. Ayden's favorites were "everything"!

McD's and Marionettes

After making a two page list of all free summer events I could find for the kids I decided that I should choose one and go. I tried to get the boys ready to go to a children's concert in Tacoma but they were whining about it so I thought that I could definitely have them ready by 2pm for story time at the 320th library. We invited Valerie and Ben to come with us and they did along with Sarah and Josh. First, we hit the new McDonald's which was super entertaining! I won't say why: to save Sarah from embarrassment;)
Story time was actually done by a puppeteer performing Cinderella and the Bug Brigade with Marionettes. The older half of the kids sat still and watched the whole thing while Ashten, Ben, and AJ were not happy about it. Today our camera got lost so there will be little to no pictures. How sad!

Alderwood Park

Ashten What a cheeseball!!
Gavin acting out Kung-Fu Panda
Gavin, Ayden and Anderson, Ashten
Cassi called us this morning, thank goodness because I was having a real hard time getting motivated to do anything other than sleep. (I had a serious sinus infection.) We met over at Kobetich Library to report the books we had read this last week. Ayden and Ashten had about 14 books each to report. AJ is still working on his books. He sleeps and eats so much of the time that he is awake that we don't usually get the reading time in that we should. After reporting and checking out some new books (25 to be exact), we walked over to the play area and let the kids play. They had a fun time playing in the trees and finding sticks. For the most part they just wanted little to do with the big toy. They went down the slide once but only so I could get a picture. I'm lucky to live by the library, if I couldn't walk there I doubt I would ever take them there and they love it!

Puppet Show

The Zambini Brothers Ashten and Ayden had a great time til the end when Ayden starting calling across the room at me, "When is this going to be over?" How embarrassing.
The Library is having their summer reading program which we signed the boys up for this week. They only need to read 10 books and then they get a whole bunch of things including, a free pizza, a backpack, a ticket to the Mayor's Summer Reading Celebration at the Point Defiance Zoo, and a few other things. They also have all kinds of free activities/ events at all of the Tacoma Libraries. Today they had The Zambini Brothers, Puppeteers. The show was called "The Fattest Cat on Earth!" We walked across the street to the library to watch the show. At first, AJ screamed he was so scared of the puppets. The big boys were laughing their heads off it was so cute. After awhile AJ noticed all the kids were laughing and he was loving it! He could not stop giggling. After the show was over the boys reported all the books that we had read and got their rewards. Ayden and Ashten LOVE to read books so we whipped right through their 10 books in two days. Anderson still has about 7 more books to go before he finishes his reading. Kristin came over for dinner and we watched a movie and ate way too much junk. It was a great day!

I haven't blogged much because Armand has the camera but I want to have the record of what we did this week so here's a very brief summary.

On Friday, we ran over to JoAnn's to pick up some paper for Ward scrapbooking night. Afterwards we were supposed to meet Wes and Kristin at McDonald's for an ice cream cone but we were running early. So since we needed to kill some time we ran over to the DI to look for any new board games they may have. The kids found Hungry Hungry Hippos, Wee Little Piggies, and a puzzle for Ayden. Ashten got this sword thing which is already broken and in the trash, thank goodness. They love DI probably because they get to have pretty much whatever they want there, although sometimes I say no because it's so dirty looking I don't want it at my house. After, we ran over to McD's. The boys played and ate ice cream.

On Thursday, I was talking to Heather H. and she was saying she was going grocery shopping with her 3 kids alone. I didn't know what she was thinking haha. So we joined her. First we went over to Subway in Twin Lakes, which I do NOT recommend to anyone with children or wanting to sit while eating during lunch time. The place is tiny there are only about 4 tables. Definitely NOT kid friendly. After we headed over to WinCo for some crazy grocery shopping.
