Are We There Yet?

After church today, which was only one hour long due to construction (they are finally removing the fire hazard brown burlap wall covering which I like to call the exfoliant AKA nylon snagger) we made a trip out to Tillamook, Oregon. Why would we do that when gas is $4.20 (that's including our discount for using our Safeway Club Card)? We had to pick up a trailer from there. So we came home from church, changed our clothes, packed up some food, hit the bathrooms, and started driving. We drove for what seemed like forever and a day to Ayden (when actually we hadn't even left NE Tacoma), when he said, "This is taking forever, when are we going to get there?" Over the trip we also heard other cries of, "I miss my ducky and my toys, Are we almost home?, My back is hot!, This doesn't really look like we're going home, My head is sweaty, Ayden/Ashten looked at me, and How many more minutes?" Overall the kids did have a great time despite the long drive and apparent heat issues. When we got to Tillamook, we decided to stop by a place that we saw on the way into town, "Blue Heron French Cheese Company".The boys checking out all the birds, sheep, goats, and other animalsAshten liked feeding the goatsAnderson wasn't too sure about themThe goats were trying to bite my bum in this picture..no joke.
Ayden didn't care for the feeding part, but he really liked this tractor.

Our two "brown babies"
AJ will be as big as Ayden any day now. hahaWe had to stay away from the chicken coop because the mommy's were nesting and we would "be attacked" if we got too close. They had a petting farm where the kids could feed the animals also. When we were buying the animal food Ashten started getting mad because he thought we were telling him that he had to eat it, so it was kind of funny that a few minutes after we explained to him that it was for the animals, he was shaking his bag and it opened and the food flew into his mouth. After we were done there we drove around looking for other things to see or do in town this took us about 2 and half minutes. The place is tiny. So we hitched on the trailer and headed home. Just before Olympia we hit a rest stop. Ayden had just woken up and they needed to burn off some energy. Armand took the boys out and let them run then they went to get some hot chocolate and grapes. AJ just wanted to sleepI decided to bring AJ out for some fresh air so we went up to get some cocoa also. The nice old lady at the shack and I had an interesting conversation so here it is:
Granny: "Wow, you've got your hands full with all of them, how do you do it?"
Me: "Ummm, I don't know. Maybe I'm just a little crazy"
Granny: "You should give yourself a break between having your kids"
Me: Insert the sound of my jaw dropping, other than that .....silence.
Granny: "They aren't all in diapers are they?"
Me: "No, just this one" (AJ)
Granny: "Well, you had more than one in diapers, the other two were in diapers at the same time."
Me: "Yeah....Can I have some hot chocolate?"
Granny: "The boys already had some."
Me: "Yeah, I know, it's for me."
Granny: "It's hot, You aren't going to give it to this one (AJ) are you?"
Me: "No."
She plops one tiny spoonful of powder in my cup. <--It was sick.
HELLO, Like the quantity or ages of my children affect her in any way! Crazy Woman MYOB! That's "mind your own business" for those who aren't up on their current abbreviations. HAHA

Anyways, that's our day! We had a great time singing, looking at the scenery, coloring, and Ashten telling Knock Knock jokes (don't get him started on the Banana one.) It kind of made me want to go on a real road trip. Luckily, I won't be doing this anytime soon, I still have buyer's remorse from filling the tank this morning...$111.00 AHHH.

Damien and I were talking about how much we wanted to go on a road trip during his time off from school, but how it is just too expensive. I've been to the Tillamook Cheese Factory, but not the Blue Heron one. Looksoj like fun! You should have told the granny you were hoping to get pregnant soon to see what she would have done. Funny how your personal affairs always seem to be some strangers business.

That is hysterical that she thought how many kids you have are any of her business. I think old people are just like that!
